HONORING OUR HEROES & VOLUNTEERS

A display of American flags on stakes in a grassy area honoring domestic military and memorials, with a group of people in the background and a sign indicating the nearby Flight 93 Memorial.

The 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America takes on a special meaning in America’s County, Somerset, Pennsylvania, as it coincides with the 25th commemoration of 9/11 - an event that brought our small, rural community to the forefront of national attention.

In honor of these historic milestones and in conjunction with the Western Pennsylvania Firemen’s Association Convention, Somerset County hosted a series of events that celebrate and honor these momentous occasions. Throughout the events, our community came together to honor the heroes who so bravely fought for freedom at both the formation of our country and when it faced unprecedented challenges in our more recent past.

We extend our deepest appreciation to the event sponsors, the planning committee members and the community who showed up to make this a memory to last a lifetime.
